Shia LaBeouf Won’t Be Back For INDIANA JONES 5

This is a truly shocking turn of events.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, screenwriter David Koepp - who recently completed work on the script for the fifth Indiana Jones movie - has confirmed that Shia LaBeouf will not be returning to the franchise following 2007's Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

Says Koepp:

“Harrison plays Indiana Jones, that I can certainly say. And the Shia LaBeouf character is not in the film.”

As you might recall, Crystal Skull featured Shia LaBeouf playing Indiana Jones' son, Mutt Williams. Later, once everyone had seen the film and realized that Indiana Jones 4 represented a truly staggering number of bad choices and miscalculations (one of which was definitely "Shia LaBeouf plays Indiana Jones' son, Mutt Williams"), LaBeouf famously criticized the film in the press, prompting Harrison Ford to call the young actor "a fucking idiot."

All of which is to say, it was unlikely that LaBeouf would be returning, anyway, but now we've got a screenwriter on record confirming as much. Whether or not Indiana Jones 5 is a good idea is besides the point - they're doing it whether you like it or not - but at the very least we can rest assured that it'll be dissimilar to Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull in at least one notable way. Let's hope it fixes a number of other issues on its way to the screen.

Stay tuned for more on Indiana Jones 5 as it becomes available.
