NOVEMBER CRIMINALS Trailer: Ansel Elgort Is Here To Single-Handedly End Racism

Baby Driver hits Washington DC to get to the bottom of our prejudices.

Speaking as someone who loves the everloving shit out of Baby Driver (call it overrated, IDGAF), it’s certainly a movie that works in spite of Ansel Elgort’s notable blandness. He’s the perfect Ryan O’Neal stand in for a riff on The Driver, mostly because he’s a blank slate, on which we can project our weird action and musical fetishes.

Well, now get ready to view Elgort as the second coming of White Jesus Himself, if this November Criminals trailer is to be believed. Ostensibly the story of a teen crusader (Elgort) who teams with his girlfriend (Chloë Grace Moretz) to try and solve the wrongfully labeled gangland killing of his favorite black barista (Jared), the PG-13 rating seems to be lying when it promises “mature thematic content”.

Take a look for yourself:

I don’t know, maybe I’m being too harsh, but that looks like a pile of after school special nonsense. Problem is: Moretz is cool, we get a glimpse of David Strathairn, and Steven Knight (Eastern Promises) co-wrote the adaption of Sam Munson’s novel. Am I gonna have to watch this thing when it comes out December 12?
