MALEFICENT 2 Is Still Coming And Now Might Have A Director

Disney must have really liked the last PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movie.

This may prove an unpopular opinion, but I did not hate Maleficent. I thought it looked fine, and an interesting revenge story and gave me plenty of wacky Sharlto Copley to enjoy. I didn’t love it or anything, but I walked away more or less satisfied by the film.

That doesn’t mean I’m chomping at the bit to get a sequel. Of course, no one at Disney asked me and one is coming regardless. Until now, it’s been fairly quiet on the Maleficent 2 front. Sadly, that calm time has ended as Deadline just claimed that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tails director Joachim Rønning is in talks to take the film on.

Is this good or bad? I don’t know! I didn’t see the last Pirates movie and I probably won’t see the next, which Rønning is also expected to direct. To be quite honest with you, I have no skin in this game whatsoever. I am free, I tell you. Free from caring about Maleficent 2!

But you may feel differently. If so, let yourself be heard in the comments below.
