Trailer For KALEIDOSCOPE Gives Us A Murderous Toby Jones

He's a stressed out little fella, I tell ya.

Toby Jones has become an actor whose mere presence elevates any movie he's in. His meek frame and soft face make him disarmingly chummy, so when a storyteller asks him to portray a murderer (as he does in his brother Rupert's new movie, Kaleidoscope), it's unexpected and frightening when he gives in to fits of rage.

The first trailer for the movie dropped today, and it looks like a pure Hitchcock riff, right down to the vertigo-inducing staircase shots. Take a look:

Co-starring Anne Reid and Sinead Matthews, Kaleidoscope is said to be an intense, twisty thriller that unfolds in the darkest corners of a man’s mind. Recently released from prison, mild-mannered Carl (Jones) quietly attempts to move on with his life. Just as he embarks on his first date in 15 years, Carl’s fresh start is shattered by the sudden reappearance of his domineering mother (Reid), whose presence awakens within him a deep-seated trauma. What unfolds is a brain-warping puzzle as reality and illusion, past and present collide and explode in violence.

Kaleidoscope hits select theaters and VOD December 8, and a few of us here at BMD are definitely gonna dig into it.
