Tom Hooper Wants To Send Eddie Redmayne To His Death In A Hot Air Balloon

Get ready for THE AERONAUTS.

According to a new report over at Variety, Fantastic Beasts star (and lifetime member of the Slappable Faces Club) Eddie Redmayne is currently in negotiations to headline Tom Hooper's The Aeronauts, which sounds like it will take place largely in and around a hot air balloon.

Here's Variety's description:

"The screenplay is based on the true story of balloon pilot Amelia Wren and scientist James Glaisher who, in 1862, embarked on an extraordinary journey to discover the secrets of the heavens. In the process, they flew higher in an open balloon than anyone had before or has since. They made breathtaking discoveries, but as they ascended to the highest reaches of the atmosphere, they were forced into an epic fight for survival."

Amazon Studios picked up the script for this one a while back, and it marks their first collaboration with Hooper, whose last film (The Danish Girl) arrived all the way back in 2015. Nothing further to report at this time, but we'll keep you informed as the updates roll in.
