Further Details Emerge Regarding Netflix’s BRIGHT Sequel

You'll never guess who's not writing the screenplay this time.

Just before Netflix released Bright, word came down that the streaming service had preemptively ordered a sequel to David Ayer's orcs-n-cops genre mashup. Today, we now know a bit more about what to expect from Bright 2 - who's returning, who's not returning and who's writing the screenplay.

Says Variety:

"Following the success of Bright, Netflix is moving forward with a sequel. David Ayer will return to write and direct the second installment, with Will Smith and Joel Edgerton expected to reprise their roles."

Notably absent from this announcement: Max Landis, who wrote the first film's screenplay (surely there's nothing to see here, folks; move along, move along). This time, David Ayer will script and direct, and ... well, this does not inspire what one might consider an overwhelming amount of confidence, but what's done is done.

In addition to the above announcement, Netflix also issued the following clip:

Stay tuned for more on Bright 2 as it becomes available.
