KICKBOXER: RETALIATION Trailer Makes Good On The Film’s Promise To Exist

More Van Damme, but now with Mike Tyson and Christopher Lambert.

I was never 100% convinced we’d see the proposed sequel to 2016’s Kickboxer reboot, Kickboxer: Vengeance. Sometimes with low budget filmmaking, these promised sequels fall through. Not this time. Making me feel foolish for my doubts, here is the trailer for Kickboxer: Retaliation:

To be honest, Kickboxer: Vengeance was not a good film. But it had a spirit I enjoyed, and gave me way more goofy Jean-Claude Van Damme than I anticipated, enough that I came away liking the film despite knowing it was mostly not great.

This trailer has a dearth of Van Damme that makes me a little nervous. On the other hand, it does have Christopher Lambert, Mike Tyson, and Game of Thrones’ Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson to divert my attention, so maybe it’s not all bad. And you never know, Van Damme still might be in it more than this trailer indicates.

Still, the film is guaranteed to be cheesy and focused on the bland Alain Moussi, so don’t get TOO excited.

Kickboxer: Retaliation comes out January 26.
