You might have heard us mention a certain zombie Christmas musical around these parts once or twice. The BMD crew has been geeking out about Anna and the Apocalypse since we first heard about it before Fantastic Fest of last year, and have been lamenting it’s lack of distribution ever since.
Thankfully, no one has to be sad anymore!
The Wrap is reporting that John McPhail’s zombie rom-com musical has been acquired by Orion Pictures for North and Latin American distribution, and it sounds like we’ll be getting that 2018 holiday release we were all hoping for. So, if you were one of the many who couldn’t make it to Fantastic Fest, or you’re just tired of hearing us gush about it without actually seeing the film, you’ll have your chance later this year.
If you’ve managed to miss all of our coverage, here’s the official synopsis of the film.
"When a zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven, Anna and her high school pals must fight, sing and slash their way to survival. Teaming with her best friend John, Anna and her crew try and save family and faculty alike as they encounter zombified snowmen, a manic bachelor party and teenage hormones. But they soon discover that no one is safe in this new world, and the only people they can truly rely on are each other."
Those of you who saw Anna And The Apocalypse at Fantastic Fest are encouraged to join us in celebration below. Everyone else, sit tight and wait for your new favorite Christmas movie to arrive.
