In case you missed it: Gemini Man is Ang Lee's next movie - a Jerry Bruckheimer production where Will Smith plays an assassin who has to face off against a younger, stronger clone of himself. Clive Owen's the villain. Shit sounds wild AF, fam.
Now, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane) has signed on, beating out Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany to play an operative who works for the same company as Smith's killer and has been ordered to keep him under a close watch. Of course, this surveillance quickly leads to a team up between the two against Yung Willy.
This is a rather fascinating project - as Smith's performance will no doubt be augmented by some sort of SFX tech (Ang Lee loves to experiment with new toys), and the supporting cast is shaping up to be aces. But beyond all that, it's the return of one of our great directors to genre cinema. Hopefully, Gemini Man - which still doesn't have an official script credit due to the twenty years of development - ends up being worthy of Lee's idiosyncratic talents.
