#CageComeBack2018: LOOKING GLASS Makes Nic A Voyeur
2018 is looking to be a massive year for Nic Cage fanatics. First, he's got Brian Taylor's Mom & Dad - a speed freak take on American Beauty that sees him killing kids and smashing pool tables while singing the "Hokey Pokey" (read my interview with the director here). Then, Panos Cosmatos' Mandy just blew the roof off Sundance, delivering psychedelic gore as Cage goes hunting for Jesus freaks (read Evan's review here).
Now, Cage's got Looking Glass - a De Palma-esque thriller about an everyman electrician (our man Nicolas Coppola, feeling rather subdued here) who discovers a series of tunnels, peep holes and two-way mirrors that allow somebody to peer in on the guests who stay at the motel he just began managing. You know, that old chestnut.
Take a peek:
It's worth noting that Cage seems to still be churning out 1,532 movies a year in order to pay off whatever back taxes he owes Uncle Sam, so the quality of this one may be in question. But after Mom & Dad and Mandy delivered that primo Cage Rage (registered trademark, Nic Cage, Inc.) everything with him in '18 is gonna be worth rooting for.
Looking Glass hits theaters and VOD February 16th. Pray for the #CageComeBack to continue.
