Keanu Reeves May Headline Rick Famuyiwa’s Vigilante Superhero Movie

In which Netflix lands an exciting new project.

According to Deadline, Netflix just won a bidding war for Past Midnight, a brand-new film from director Rick Famuyiwa (Dope). Written by relative newcomer TJ Fixman, the plot is said to revolve around a "vigilante superhero", and is currently attempting to land Keanu Reeves for the lead role.

Reeves - who is, as you know, no stranger to the vigilante justice genre - isn't signed for the film quite yet, but apparently all involved are eager to get him onboard. Here's hoping they do, too: Famuyiwa announced himself as an exciting new talent with Dope, and we've been curious to see what he'd do within the confines of the superhero genre ever since he came this close to directing WB's The Flash. In this case, getting Reeves signed for the role just feels like a bonus (as long as it doesn't interfere with the arrival of John Wick: Chapter 3, of course; we would not be thrilled about that).

Anyhoo, nothing further to report at this time, but we'll definitely keep you informed as further updates roll in.
