Fred Durst Is Currently Shooting A Thriller Called MOOSE With John Travolta

It's...uh...there's a lot to unpack here, folks.

Earlier this evening, the Birth.Movies.Death. offices received a press release that appeared to have been written Mad Libs-style. I'm just gonna go ahead and cut and paste the pertinent section of said press release, so you can get the full experience.

Ahem:

"Principal photography is now underway in Alabama on the thriller Moose starring two-time Oscar® nominee John Travolta with Limp Bizkit front man, Fred Durst directing for Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi’s AMBI Media Group.

Based on events from Fred Durst’s own life, Moose was written by Durst with Dave Bekerman.

John Travolta is playing the title character Moose - a rabid movie fan obsessed with his favorite celebrity action hero, Hunter Dunbar, played by Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Nikita). As Moose’s obsession grows stronger, his fixation turns from stalking to ambition of destroying the star’s life. The story was inspired by a real life fan who stalked Durst many years ago."

Yes, you read that correctly - Fred Durst (best known as the lead singer of nu-metal band Limp Bizkit, and two-time film director) is currently shooting a film called Moose, starring John Travolta and Devon Sawa. The film, based on Durst's own real-life experiences, will feature Travolta as an obsessed fan who begins stalking his favorite action movie star (Devon Sawa). The mind reels.

A few set photos from Moose have already leaked out, and while they aren't something we can share here on the site, we definitely wouldn't dissuade you from going and looking at them right this minute. In fact, we sort of insist that you go look at these photos now, for reasons that will be immediately apparent

As noted above, this isn't Durst's first foray into the filmmaking world: he previously directed The Education of Charlie Banks (2007), The Longshots (2008) and - according to Durst's Wikipedia page - a commercial for dating website eHarmony (2014). This will be, as far as we can tell, the first time Durst has worked somewhat autobiographically.

Nothing further to report on Moose at this time, but don't worry: we'll be monitoring the progress on this one very, very closely.
