When I talked to director Chad Stahelski about his action masterpiece John Wick: Chapter 2 last year, he wasn't shy about the character/franchise's super spy influence:
"I’m a big fan of the early Bonds, and if James Bond goes to the Alps, I wanna be in the Alps. If Bond goes to the Bahamas, I want to be in the Bahamas."
Well, now Stahelski is going to have a former Brosnan era Bond Girl mixing it up with Keanu Reeves' super assassin, as Halle Berry's joined John Wick: Chapter 3. As of right now, the character Berry plays is being kept hush hush, but according to THR, she "will not play the villain". So, that rules that out.
For those who may have forgotten, Chapter 3 is going to pick up immediately after the end of the last picture, with Mr. Wick on the run after terminating a member of the shadowy international guild, the High Table, and who now has a price on his head. If Berry's not the villain - which we already kind of knew, as the main heavy will be portrayed by The Wolverine's Hiroyuki Sanada - perhaps she will be an ally, set up by Laurence Fishburne's Hobo King of NYC?
Also joining Berry and Sanada are a whole slew of new characters. Per the JW Twitter account:
The Adjudicator? The Director? Zero? Tick-Tock Man? They're going full comic book Bond on us this round. All the more reason to be catching John Wick: Chapter 3 the day it drops: May 17th, 2019. A year seems too long to wait for the (assumed) final chapter in this shoot 'em up all-timer cinematic series.
