Michael Keaton’s Returning For The SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel
Earlier today, we got the very exciting news that Jake Gyllenhaal is currently in negotiations to play Mysterio in the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. We looked upon this news and we rejoiced: for one thing, Gyllenhaal's always a welcome presence in anything; for another, we've long wished to see Mysterio onscreen. Good work, Marvel!
Now we're hearing that Mysterio won't be the only villain making an appearance in Jon Watts' sequel: Variety's report on the Gyllenhaal casting also mentions that living legend Michael Keaton will be reprising his Vulture role from Spider-Man: Homecoming (you'll recall that Homecoming ended with Vulture headed into prison, rather than, y'know, a grave).
This probably depends on your reaction to Spider-Man: Homecoming, but we're all for this. Keaton was one of the MCU's best villains to date, and we're thrilled to learn he'll be back in some capacity. The only question now is, what sorta capacity are we talking about? Will the Vulture be reformed? Will he be joining forces with Mysterio? Will he still have that baller-ass jacket? We are unreasonably excited to learn the answers to these questions, and will let you know when we hear anything further.
Until then, please celebrate the increasing awesomeness of the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel in the space provided below.
