The Wreck-It-Ralph 2 trailer just dropped, promising to take the titular old school video game character on a trip to the Interwebz, where he experiences a ton of product placement, frustration, and princesses. So, it's an animated documentary! Cool cool cool.
Take a look:
I'm into anything John C. Reilly-related (pitch: a Dewey Cox animated series, call me motherfuckers!), and the first picture was a total ball. Sign me up for more from Mr. Ralph and his quirky sidekick Vanellope (Sarah Silverman).
For real, though: it is interesting to see Disney breaking from treating their past princess characters as pure pieces of merchandise, and actually inserting them (not just their likenesses) into a new narrative. Often, they'll share the same T-shirt, but never look at or otherwise acknowledge each other's existence. It's probably only a cameo gag, but nonetheless still significant.
Anyways, Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 hits theaters November 21st, right in time to chill in an auditorium with a belly full of turkey while its colorful mayhem washes over you.
