San Diego Comic-Con 2018 is here! Are you excited? I'm already hungover.
One of the movies anticipated to have a rather sizable presence (pun 100% intended, IDGAF) is Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters - the sorta-sequel, MonsterVerse movie (behind Gareth Edwards' Godzilla and Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Skull Island) - that sees everybody's favorite, chubby, atomic-breathed beast waddling back into action to stomp the bejeezus out of anything and everything in his path.
Ahead of SDCC, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown (who has quite the crossover role in King of the Monsters) teased some footage from the film on Instagram. Ominous as all hell (as is the way with these new kaiju parties), the clip sees Brown's Madison Russell character broadcasting a transmission comprised of two words: "Reach Monarch", hoping to receive any sort of response from the shadowy organization.
Take a look:
Of course, Monarch first appeared in Edwards' Godzilla, and then came back in Skull Island (with John Goodman‘s Bill Randa acting as a senior operative for the clandestine agency). What role will RM play in King of the Monsters (not to mention Adam Wingard's upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong?). Something tells me we'll know a little more by the end of the week.
Even more enticing is the hope that we'll see new iterations of King G's classic kaiju foes, as King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan are all supposed to be playing big roles in Dougherty's royal rumble. Evan's going to be reporting live from Hall H for practically half his lifetime, so you'll probably be able to hear his cries of joy the world over if the creature design is top notch.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters stomps into theaters May 31, 2019. Stay tuned.
