The Cast For Ari Aster’s HEREDITARY Follow-Up is Coming Along Nicely

Will Poulter, Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor are goin' on a (pagan) holiday.

Director Ari Aster's not wasting any time getting his Hereditary follow-up assembled: a script's been written, he's got A24 onboard to distribute the film, and now the as-yet-untitled project's cast is beginning to take shape. According to a report over at Collider...

"Jack Reynor and Will Poulter are nearing deals to join Florence Pugh in the untitled new horror movie from Hereditary writer-director Ari Aster...

Pugh and Reynor will play a couple that travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult."

That's right: if you hadn't already heard, Aster's next is a pagan-flavored horror film (one of our favorite horror flavors, it's worth noting), and he's got Florence Pugh (The Commuter), Jack Reynor (Free Fire) and Will Poulter (Detroit) ready to sign on the dotted line to star in it. They'll be joining a cast that also includes Vilhem Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia and Archie Madekwe. Interesting sidenote: according to Bloody Disgusting, a 15-building village is about to be constructed in Hungary, which is where Aster plans to shoot the film.

Not to tread into spoiler territory for anyone who hasn't already seen Hereditary, but: "pagan cult horror" is not an unfamiliar topic for this up-and-coming filmmaker, and whether or not you loved that film will probably depend on how you felt about its third act.

We're curious: now that all the hubbub surrounding Hereditary has died down, how do you feel about it? Best horror film of the year, or are you giving that honor to John Krasinski's A Quiet Place (or something else entirely)? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for more on Aster's Hereditary follow-up as further updates roll in.
