Disney's live-action (read: partially live-action, partially CGI rendered via mo-cap performances) remake of Lady And The Tramp already cast noted heartthrob Justin Theroux as its Tramp, but today the production announced that it had finally found its Lady: Thor: Ragnarok's Tessa Thompson.
The news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter, who reminds us the film will be directed by The LEGO Ninjago Movie's Charlie Bean, with the intention of being rolled out on Disney's as-yet-unnamed streaming service sometime after its launch in 2019.
For those unfamiliar with the original 1955 film, Lady And The Tramp tells the story of two dogs - a Cocker-Spaniel named Lady and a mutt named Tramp - who fall in love while cavorting around with a pair of grotesque cartoon stereotypes who seem far too invested in the idea of two dogs hooking up.
Not weird at all!
In addition to Theroux and Thompson, Lady And The Tramp will also feature Ashley Jensen as a Scottish Terrier named Jackie, Doctor Strange's Benedict Wong as an English bulldog with the unimaginative name of Bull, and Kiersey Clemons as Darling, the human owner of Lady.
Nothing further to report at this time, but we'll keep you informed as further Lady And The Tramp updates roll in. Stand by.
