Fans of Oscar nominated filmmaker Wes Anderson probably won’t be the least bit surprised to hear that his follow-up to Isle of Dogs may actually be a musical. The eccentric director is known for exploring wild and whimsical worlds filled with peculiar and fascinating characters, so throwing a few musical numbers into the mix seems to be the next logical step.
According to The Playlist, Anderson will shoot his next film on location in France in the area of Angoulême. Unfortunately, there’s not much else to report beyond that, except that the feature is said to be set post-World War II, which adds yet another element of intrigue.
What we do know is that Anderson’s style is sure to merge nicely with the musical genre; we’re already picturing a kaleidoscope of colors reminiscent of the beautiful palette in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Oh, and it’s probably safe to bet on an appearance or two from frequent collaborators like Bill Murray or Edward Norton. Imagine the dance numbers!
We’ll keep you posted as more news on this project develops. Until then, head to the comments and let us know what you’d like to see in Wes Anderson’s musical.
