Filming on Joseph Kosinski's Top Gun: Maverick has been underway for some time now, long enough that you might've assumed they were all but finished with the film's principle photography. Apparently not: according to The Hollywood Reporter, they're still adding cast members.
"Jon Hamm, Ed Harris and Lewis Pullman (son of actor Bill Pullman) have joined Top Gun: Maverick, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Details on their roles are being kept a mystery."
This wording led to a bit of back-and-forth behind the scenes at BMD. It's the use of the word "mystery" that piqued our curiosity. What possible "mystery" roles could Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, and Lewis Pullman (son of actor Bill Pullman) possibly be filling? Eventually we just decided that "mystery" was probably THR overstating things a bit, and that - in all likelihood - that information simply hasn't been made public. They're all probably playing pilots or some shit.
Anyway, not much else to report at this time. Hamm, Harris and Pullman (son of actor Bill Pullman) are joining a cast that includes Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly and Glen Powell, and we'll probably know a bit more about the film's plot in the (somewhat) near future.
Stay tuned for further Top Gun: Maverick updates as they become available. Movie arrives on July 12th, 2019.
