You thought JJ Abrams' Star Wars: Episode IX was done hiring on new cast members. You thought wrong, and in the process you've let all of us - and yourself - down.
According to Variety, former Doctor Who star Matt Smith has officially joined the production. This being a JJ Abrams joint and a new Star Wars movie, we have no further information to go on at this time. We don't know his name. We don't know what planet he's from. We don't know if his character will align himself with the Rebels or the First Order. We don't know a goddamn thing, and there's nothing any of us can do about that.
In case you need a reminder, Smith's joining a cast that already includes Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Dee Williams and - last, but certainly not least - the late Carrie Fisher (who'll be appearing via archival footage). There will also probably be Porgs.
Stay tuned for more on Star Wars: Episode IX as further updates become available. In the meantime: what do you think of Matt Smith joining the cast? Into it? Not so much? Mostly indifferent because you have no idea who he's playing and are thus finding it hard to have any opinion? Sound off below.
