I just have no idea what to expect with Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria remake. All I really know is that it would be foolish to expect a direct remake of the original. Guadagnino has something up his sleeve and I can’t wait to find out what that is.
Which is a nice way to say, I do not understand the marketing of this film. This new poster almost seems like a joke:
What we have here is the title typeface we’ve already seen, surrounded by a bunch of blood and eyeballs. I mean, ticket sold. But I have no idea what kind of movie I’m getting into here. The typeface is like from a ‘90s comedy; meanwhile, all that blood means we’re going to get some violence. Violence to eyeballs, all the better! But it still adds up to a kind of confusing aesthetic. Maybe once we all see the film it’ll make more sense.
We get that opportunity, by the way, October 26th. I will be there. How about you?
