The first trailer for Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's Captain Marvel just landed.
I think we can skip the intro and go straight to the footage, yeah?
Well, that looks pretty solid. A little light on the elaborate VFX shots, perhaps, but one supposes that's to be expected, given that Captain Marvel doesn't arrive until next March. Brie Larson looks great in the suit. The de-aging process they've applied to Samuel L. Jackson is very impressive. The "Hey, this movie takes place in the '90s!" visual signifiers are all present and accounted for (how great is it that Marvel crash lands into a Blockbuster Video?). It's an early trailer - and all that that implies - but we're definitely happy with what's here.
Here's an official plot synopsis:
"The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."
Starring Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn (the GOAT), Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Clark Gregg and Jude Law, Boden and Fleck's Captain Marvel will land in theaters on March 8th, 2019. Scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you folks about this one?
