Noted Beefcake Alexander Skarsgård Will Headline GODZILLA VS. KONG
On the whole, the Birth.Movies.Death. team is firmly onboard with Legendary's ongoing Gozilla/King Kong shenanigans. We enjoyed Gareth Edwards' Godzilla. We enjoyed Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong: Skull Island. We sure as hell enjoyed the trailer for Mike Dougherty's Godzilla: King of The Monsters. And now, perhaps unsurprisingly, we've been given yet another reason to root for this franchise.
According to Deadline, noted beefcake and frequent MVP-of-everything-he-appears-in Alexander Skarsgård will headline Adam Wingard's Godzilla VS. Kong, the franchise-capping (???) final installment (???) in Legendary's Kaiju quadrilogy. He'll be joining the already-cast Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry and Demian Bichir.
As of this writing, we have no idea what Godzilla VS. Kong is about, but context clues lead us to believe it may feature some sort of showdown between Godzilla and King Kong. Presumably, Skarsgård and company will spend most of the film trying not to be stomped on during the ensuing fracas.
Stay tuned for more on both Godzilla: King of The Monsters and Godzilla VS. Kong as further updates become available. The former hits theaters on May 31st of next year, while the latter arrives almost exactly one year later, on May 22nd.
