Say what you will about 2018. Say that it's the most garbage year many of us have ever lived through. Say that its constant disasters and social setbacks have driven untold millions of people back into therapy. Say that, at this point, a full-blown apocalypse might really be our best option. I will not argue any of these points with you, as they are demonstrably true. But I will insist on this footnote:
2018 has been a stellar year to be a Nic Cage fan.
Things got off to a rip-roaring start back in January, with the release of Mom and Dad, a film that (among many other memorable visuals) featured Nic Cage wrecking a pool table with a sledgehammer while shrieking "The Hokey Pokey". Mere months later, the film community was rocked back on its heels with the release of Panos Cosmatos' Mandy, an all-timer containing what many have already come to recognize as Nic Cage's best performance.
And now, after all these gifts that we've already been given, we still have Maria Pulera's Between Worlds to look forward to.
That's the first trailer for Between Worlds, a film starring Nic Cage as Joe, a truck driver whose dead wife gets reincarnated into the body of his new girlfriend's daughter (read that sentence twice if you have to). As you might expect, this development proves to be problematic for all involved, and many ill-advised hijinks ensue. I would describe some of them for you here, but this is really a case where you need to discover the hijinks for yourself. Believe me when I say they are not to be missed.
According to the press release we received, Between Worlds will arrive on December 21st (just in time for Christmas!), at which point you'll either be able to catch it OnDemand or via a limited theatrical rollout. Stay tuned for further updates on this one as they become available.
