Diego Luna’s ROGUE ONE Character Is Getting His Very Own TV Show
Here's a surprising development: according to Disney CEO Robert Iger, Diego Luna's Cassian Andor - last seen being blasted to smithereens at the end of Gareth Edwards' Rogue One - is getting his very own spin-off TV series on Disney's forthcoming streaming service, Disney+. Obviously, it'll be a prequel.
Says StarWars.com:
"The series, which will go into production next year, follows the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor...
The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."
And here's what Luna has to say about his new gig:
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
All of this is sure to excite fans of Rogue One, but here at Birth.Movies.Death. we're excited for another reason: sending Diego Luna back into the Star Wars universe on a new series of adventures means that we might finally get to see this man achieve his goal of touching Jabba the Hutt.
The Cassian Andor series will go into production next year, and hit Disney's streaming service sometime after that. We don't know who else is gonna be in it, when it'll premiere, or who's gonna be writing or directing it. We just know that it's en route, and for now that's good enough for us.
Stay tuned for further updates as they roll in, gang.
