It’s hard to get too worked up over Godzilla vs. Kong with our attention currently on the much more imminent Godzilla: King of Monsters, but we will have to find a way to pay attention to both today. Adam Wingard’s film - which has a cast including Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir and Rebecca Hall - has started production.
And with that start comes an official synopsis! Check it out:
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
Obviously we were never getting a version of this that didn’t come with a healthy human plot to drive things along. In this case, it looks like there will be bad humans trying to get rid of giant monsters altogether as good humans look further into their origins. Somehow, all this gets Godzilla to fight King Kong. The synopsis is silent in regards to their remarkable size difference.
While Godzilla: King of Monsters currently has my heart, I am of course very excited about whatever this movie ends up being. I’m sure we’ll find out loads more before its May 22, 2020 release.
