Yesterday, Pedro Pascal was cast as the lead in Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian, his Star Wars Disney+ streaming series. The day before that, Carl Weathers was rumored to be joining the cast (a bit of gossip started by the same folks who initially floated Pascal's talks with the production). As of right now, the only real details we have on the show's plot is that it takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens and follows, as per the only plot information we have:
"...a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."
Today, according to The Wrap, Deadpool, Haywire and Fast & Furious 6 ass kicker Gina Carano has joined The Mandalorian in a role that (*gasp*) has yet to be disclosed. Cool. If we had to guess? It's probably going to be a villain/henchman of some sort that sees Carano continuing to beat the shit out of everyone, even in a galaxy far, far away (because, let's face it, the former MMA brawler's not much of a thespian).
Now, can we get some sort of confirmation on whatever the heck Werner Herzog is doing on this thing? He's been rumored for a while now, and it'd be cool as hell to see him don a cape and shout weird German shit as the series' big bad. Pretty please? With some midichlorians on top?
Anyway, The Mandalorian will hit Disney+ sometime in 2019. This thing is starting to sound funky as hell, and we can't wait to see some footage after production ramps up here in the next few weeks.
