It’s Official: Kevin Hart Will Host This Year’s Oscars Ceremony

Looks like the Academy didn't take our advice.

Yesterday, we learned the Academy was having a hard time finding anyone willing to host this year's Oscars ceremony, a surprising turn of events that inspired us to suggest Nathan Fielder for the job. We crossed our fingers and hoped the AMPAS would listen to reason, but apparently it was too little, too late.

For years I have been asked if I would ever Host the Oscars and my answer was always the same...I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it’s suppose to. I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars. I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time....To be able to join the legendary list of host that have graced that stage is unbelievable. I know my mom is smiling from ear to ear right now. I want to thank my family/friends/fans for supporting me & riding with me all this time....I will be sure to make this years Oscars a special one. I appreciate the @TheAcademy for the opportunity it’s time to rise to the occasion #Oscars

Yes, that's right - Kevin Hart, the successful comedian turned star of many comedies we have watched on airplanes, will host this year's Oscars telecast, and though he's not the first person we'd have picked for the gig, we do think he'll do a good job. I mean, if nothing else, Hart hosting all but guarantees a Rock cameo during the opening monologue, right? Maybe he'll even carry him out onstage.

So, congrats to Kevin Hart for landing this gig! We're rooting for ya, and will be tuning in when the Oscars airs on Sunday, February 24th.
