Last month, us Friday the 13th fan(atic)s were saddened to hear about the passing of Steve Dash, who played Jason in most of Friday the 13th Part 2 and thus pretty much set the tone for all that followed. In addition to being a fan favorite for the role, Dash was also a pretty hilarious and easygoing guy, which everyone who ever got the chance to meet him at a con can attest to. He wasn't properly credited for the role - the credits put him as Jason's stunt double, crediting Warrington Gillette for the role - but thanks to these cons (and the documentaries and such) he had gotten his rightful due over the years, and he will be sorely missed at the usual reunion panels.
To honor his legacy, Screamfest will be presenting a special one-night screening of Part 2 at the TCL Chinese 6 in Hollywood, California as part of their ongoing Fears & Beers screening series. However, this time it's actually being dubbed a Fears & CHEERS event, because instead of the usual beer that comes free with your ticket purchase (for those that are 21+, obviously), you'll be getting a glass of wine to enjoy with the film. And not just any wine - special Crystal Lake branded wine straight from the vineyard operated by Adrienne "Alice" King and her husband. She'll be on hand for a post-movie Q&A along with actor Russell Todd (who played Scott, the horny slingshot guy) and composer Harry Mandredini, moderated by yours truly.
Wanna come? Just shoot an email to [email protected] with your favorite kill in the movie! I'll be picking one on Monday and letting you know that you and a guest are in for the show! Please include your full name! The screening is at 730pm on Tuesday, January 29th at the TCL Chinese 6, and if you don't want to pin your hopes on a contest you can buy tickets HERE.
