New Photos From Tarantino’s ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD Are Very Groovy

In which QT's latest begins to come into focus.

Today, Vanity Fair unleashed a slew of new images from Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood, one of our most highly-anticipated films of the year...and one of its most mysterious. Unlike the past three or four Tarantino joints, the screenplay for Once Upon a Time has remained gloriously un-leaked, which means we know very, very little about what this film actually is. Is it a buddy comedy? An alternate history take on the Manson Family murders? A sprawling, Pulp Fiction-esque tapestry devoted to late '60s Hollywood culture? All of the above?

We have no idea, but these new images certainly have our minds racing. As you can see above, that's Leonardo DiCaprio in full swingin' '60s mode on the set of Hullabaloo, a musical variety show that aired on NBC from 1965 'til 1966. It is, you'll note, one of the greatest photographs ever taken.

Meanwhile, the next photo features Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Pacino having a cocktail together. This is Pacino's first foray into Tarantino's filmography, and we're sort of amazed it took this long to happen. If you hadn't already heard, Once Upon a Time will allegedly revolve around DiCaprio and Pitt's characters, an actor/stuntman duo trying to make the leap from TV to feature film work. Word on the street suggests Pacino will be playing an entertainment lawyer.

Here's a shot of Leonardo DiCaprio leaping out of the back of a truck with a shotgun. It is badass.

Here's a fresh look at Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, whose murder at the hands of the Manson Family will factor into Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood's plot...somehow. We're not sure how integral her role is, but we are aware that Sharon Tate's sister has signed off on the portrayal.

Here's a shot of Tarantino directing DiCaprio on the set of what appears to be a western. He's lighting a cigarette (presumably having struck the match using only his beard stubble) and wearing a revolver, as was the style at the time.

You can click on over to Vanity Fair to see the rest of the pics, or you can just head on down to the comments to let us know how you're feeling about this one. Excited to find out what this movie's all about? Wondering when we'll see the first trailer? Still concerned about the Sharon Tate content? We're curious. Let us know in the space provided below, and stay tuned for more on Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood (yes, those ellipses are official) as further updates become available.
