Big things are happening at Hulu today: in addition to the just-announced Devil In The White City adaptation from Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, the streaming network has also revealed they've partnered with Marvel for four (4) new animates series.
The first is Howard The Duck, based on the cigar-smoking, wisecracking character of the same name. Howard last made an appearance in the end-credits tag on James Gunn's Guardians of The Galaxy, and once headlined a feature film that's better left undiscussed here. The show's being shepherded to the screen by Kevin Smith and Dave Willis, who'll executive produce alongside Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb. Big day for Howard The Duck fans.
The second series is Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show, to be co-written and executive produced by former Netflix talk show personality Chelsea Handler. According to Deadline, the series will revolve around the titular characters "as they try to get their superpowered heads, hands and hearts around life in the City of Angels."
Then there's Marvel’s Hit-Monkey and Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., both of which are headed our way via Josh Gordon, Will Speck, Patton Oswalt (!!!) and Jordan Blum. The former revolves around "a pissed off Japanese snow monkey who tries to take on and take down Tokyo’s crime underworld with the ghost of an American assassin by his side", while the latter will deal with Marvel supervillain M.O.D.O.K. as he attempts to deal with his ego and family issues. It probably goes without saying that we're most excited about these two shows.
This is all very exciting news for fans of these characters, not to mention for fans of the creative forces behind each product. Which of the above are you most excited about? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for updates on each of these shows as further updates become available.
