No it’s not raining. You’re just preparing for Netflix’s new superhero series The Umbrella Academy. This show is a refreshing tongue-in-cheek departure from both the MCU and DC universes that centers on six “superheroes” adopted by an entrepreneurial billionaire who preps them to be saviors of the world. It’s based off an American graphic novel written by Gerard Way.
A show this kitschy cool has got to have some amazing music. With television composer extraordinaire Jeff Russo on board, you know you’re in for a treat. He’s penned scores for hit television shows that include Legion (2017-2019), Star Trek: Discovery (2017-2019), Santa Clarita Diet (2018), Altered Carbon (2018), and Fargo (2014-2017) to name a few.
Aaron Vehling from the Vehlinggo Podcast had the honor of speaking with Jeff about his new series and gives the listener a little inside glimpse into the sights and sounds of the show. The soundtrack was released by Lakeshore Records and is available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and other online digital retailers.
Everybody get your umbrellas out and enjoy the latest edition of the Composer Podcast!
