IT: CHAPTER TWO May Contain The Bloodiest Scene Of All Time

We wouldn't have it any other way.

Last night, national treasure Jessica Chastain appeared on The Tonight Show for a chat with Jimmy Fallon, during which she had an interesting tease to share for this September's It: Chapter Two: according to Chastain, it will feature one of the bloodiest scenes in film history. Possibly the bloodiest ever.

Skip to the 2:15 mark to hear her tell the tale.

Maybe you don't like watching clips from The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Totally fine. For you folks, I've excerpted the pertinent quote:

“I’m gonna say something and I think I’m gonna be in trouble but I’m gonna do it. It might be a spoiler, but in the movie there’s a scene that someone said on set that it’s the most blood that’s ever been in a horror film in a scene. The next day I was pulling [fake] blood out of my eyeballs.”

That's a bold claim! Cinematic history is littered with exceptionally bloody scenes (the bathroom scene from It: Chapter One comes to mind, as does the "raining blood" sequence from Fede Álvarez's Evil Dead remake), and we're very curious to find out if that claim's legit. That amount of blood could be used in all kinds of ways in Andy Muschietti's highly-anticipated sequel, though obviously we're hoping it'll be employed during the Jade of The Orient sequence, wherein the adult Losers' Club has a most unsettling experience at Derry's premier Chinese restaurant. Just imagine something like 5,000,000 gallons of fake blood erupting from a single fortune cookie. You gonna sit there telling lies about how you don't want to see that? I think not.

It: Chapter Two hits theaters on September 6th, so we should start seeing the first signs of the film's marketing campaign somewhat soon. My guess? We'll get a look at the trailer in early April, during CinemaCon (don't worry, I'll be reporting from the frontlines, so ever if they don't drop it at that time you'll get an overwritten description outta the deal).

Stay tuned, folks.
