I'm not gonna bother with any preamble on this one. The first teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood just landed, and neither you nor I could give two shits what I have to say right now. Let's cut straight to the chase:
Good lord, that looks entertaining.
First impressions? Given the subject matter, I'm a little surprised at how funny this looks! This trailer's less than two minutes long and manages to pack in several laugh-out-loud moments ("That's called manslaughter" actually made me cackle). Of course Tarantino's always worked with darkly funny material, so I suppose it's not that surprising. But still: in addition to looking beautifully shot, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood looks hilarious.
Other things worth noting: we spend most of this teaser with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio's characters, but we also get looks at Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate, Mike Moh's Bruce Lee, some of the Manson girls (at what appears to be Spahn Ranch) and what may be a quick glimpse at Damon Heriman's Charles Manson. All of that said, we still don't really know how all these pieces fit together. That's kind of exciting, isn't it?
Look, I need to watch this trailer at least a dozen more times, so I'm gonna turn the mic over to the crowd and let y'all have your way with it. Like what you're seeing here? Excited as we are? Not so much? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for many more updates on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as we zero in on the film's July 26th release date.
