Hello! I know it’s basically Star Wars day, but there is other news too, you know! Star Wars doesn’t get to have absolutely EVERYTHING. Okay, maybe it’s close. Either way, I’m still going to write up this totally worthy non-Star Wars news.
According to The Wrap, there is going to be a Tomb Raider 2. Perhaps we already knew that, but it surprises me. Normally that wouldn’t be such a big deal. The first Tomb Raider film (of the reboot, mind you) wasn’t great but it wasn’t exactly bad either. It just kind of was, and I figured we’d all forget about it and move on.
But nope. There’s going to be a sequel. The difference this time is it might actually be something special all thanks to Amy Jump. The Wrap reports the great screenwriter has been signed to write Tom Raider 2.
If you love Ben Wheatley, that basically means you love Amy Jump. She wrote Free Fire and High-Rise and co-wrote as well as freaking edited many of his other films.
So as you can see, this is not some hired gun. Amy Jump is a force, and that force applied to a Tomb Raider film is something that has my attention in the best possible way. When I woke up this morning, I knew I’d be getting a new Star Wars title. Never in a million years did I expect to get this as well.
