Well, THR just made it official: CBS All Access has ordered up a second season of Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg's The Twilight Zone, which premiered just over a month ago on the still-up-and-coming streaming service. There is, of course, no word on when the second season might premiere, how many episodes they've ordered (at the very least, we're assuming it'll be 10 episodes, just like season one), or which filmmakers Peele, Kinberg and company might rope into directing future installments of this sci-fi anthology reboot, but that's fine. We're patient. All that matters now is that Twilight Zone will continue.
By the way: are y'all enjoying the new Twilight Zone? So far, the impression I'm getting is that reaction's been mixed; even those of us who've committed ourselves to tuning in every week seem to have some not-insignificant criticisms regarding this version of the show. Perhaps some of those criticisms (primarily the one taking issue with the show's needlessly expanded runtime of 60min per episode) will be addressed? Perhaps not.
For the record - and speaking as a hardcore fan of The Twilight Zone in general - I've been having a blast. Yeah, I could do with less swearing, and yeah, I'd love it if the runtimes were tightened up, but for the most part I've been happy with everything I've seen. Of course some episodes are better than others (I was very iffy on this past week's episode, "The Wunderkind"), but part of the fun of an anthology format is the joy of discovery, in finding out if each new week will deliver a new high-point or a totally whiffed swing.
But where are y'all at with it? Sound off below, and stay tuned for more Twilight Zone coverage as further updates become available.
