So, The New SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Trailer Just Dropped A Bombshell
Warning: this post contains Avengers: Endgame spoilers.
Late last week, we learned that a new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer was incoming, one which would apparently spoil some of the events of Avengers: Endgame (which, you may or may have not heard, is now in theaters). That trailer just arrived and, as promised, it definitely features Endgame spoilers.
It also contains...well, a reveal which feels something like a bombshell.
Take a look, see if you don't agree.
So, yup, definitely some Endgame spoilers in there - here's hoping you were all caught up before watching that! - but let's not worry about that right now. Let's instead discuss that revelation that arrives midway through this trailer: Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) is working with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who tells Peter Parker (Tom Holland) that his newest colleague is from "another Earth". Apparently, all that Snapping done by Thanos opened up rifts to a number of alternate dimensions, and now...well, now we've got a visitor. And there'll probably be more.
Needless to say, this throws open the door to all kinds of hijinks within the MCU. For instance: the Multiverse concept would explain the existence of Deadpool, or any other Marvel characters we've not seen in the MCU before (see also: the X-Men, the Fantastic Four). It would even allow for dead superheroes to come back, as their alternate-reality selves, should Marvel be interested in going down that road. Also worth mentioning: given Mysterio's involvement, this could all be a massive bit of misdirection...but we kinda hope it isn't, because the Multiverse concept's a lot of fun. This could lead us down some wild narrative paths.
Anyhoo, what do you think? Liking what you see here? What do you think of the Multiverse concept, and are you happy to see it being brought to the forefront here? How great is Samuel L. Jackson saying "Bitch, please" to Peter Parker? And how about Gyllenhaal's Mysterio costume - is that not the best villain outfit we've seen in years? Hit the comments below to let us know where your head's at on all of this, and stay tuned for more as we get closer to Spider-Man: Far From Home 's July 2nd arrival in theaters.
