Michael Rooker To Play King Shark In James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD

This is what King Shark looks like.

You always know a good idea when you hear one, right? Well, here's one: according to The Wrap, Michael "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!" Rooker is currently in talks to join James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, where he'd be playing a character by the name of King Shark, who is quite literally a humanoid shark.

Says The Wrap:

"His father is Chondrakha the God of all Sharks, and his mother is a human woman. For years he acted as a serial killer in Hawaii before his presence was discovered by Superboy. Briefly during Sword of Atlantis he became Aquaman’s sidekick. He has been a member of the Secret Six, the Secret Society of Super-Villains and the Suicide Squad."

Let's see here...daddy issues...serial killer in Hawaii...important supporting role in another comic book property...yup, Michael Rooker is absolutely the right choice to play King Shark (just imagine Michael Rooker's voice pouring out of a humanoid shark man with muscles, that's gonna be great).

How they'll go about realizing King Shark onscreen is another thing to consider. Presumably (The Wrap's report doesn't say), Rooker will be mo-capping the role, with King Shark himself accomplished via CGI, much like Killer Croc in the last Suicide Squad. Maybe he won't be a humanoid shark at all. Maybe it'll just be Michael Rooker with a fin on his head. I mean, if nothing else, we know that look works.

Nothing further to report on The Suicide Squad at this time, but we'll keep ya informed as further updates roll in.
