Cinepocalypse 2019 To Open With Glenn Danzig’s Directorial Debut

The full 2019 lineup is stacked with genre goodies.

If you don't live in or around Chicago, you might want to get your butts to that general area this June, when the third installment of Cinepocalypse invades the windy city. The fest opens on June 13 with the world premiere of Verotika, a new horror anthology that marks the directorial debut of some dude named Glenn Danzig – maybe you've heard of him? Danzig himself will be in attendance for the premiere of the film, which is described as "Featuring a plot shrouded in secrecy, a soundtrack of new Danzig music, and based on the output of his comic book publishing company Verotik—a compound of “violence” and “erotic”—this feature film anthology is a realization of his lifelong love of comics and the dark arts." The dark arts, you say? Hell yes.

In addition to Verotika, the full 2019 lineup for Cinepocalypse has been unveiled, featuring multiple new horror films directed by women, including The Lodge (from Goodnight Mommy duo Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala), Chelsea Stardust's Satanic Panic, the world premiere of Caryn Waechter's Deadcon, Pollyanna McIntosh's Darlin' (a sequel to Lucky McKee's The Woman), and a special screening of Culture Shock from rising Latinx filmmaker Gigi Saul Guerrero (part of Blumhouse's Into the Dark anthology series).

But wait, there's more: The members of iconic metal collective GWAR will be on hand for a special retrospective and a live "butchering" of cult classic Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare. Cinepocalypse will also play host to a handful of very exciting repertory screenings: A 35th anniversary screening of Hot Dog... The Movie, featuring the producer's cut 4K restoration, and – my personal favorite – a screening of the never-before-seen R-rated "gore-cut" of Tammy and the T-Rex (you heard me). Additional screenings include Paul Verhoeven's Total Recall (with Michael Ironside in attendance to receive the fest's annual achievement award), Falling Down and Flatliners (with Joel Schumacher in attendance), and recent SXSW favorite Villains

Tickets are on sale today for the 2019 Cinepocalypse Film Festival, which takes place in Chicago from June 13 to June 20. Full lineup below:
