BLACK MIRROR Season 5 Has Three New Trailers
Black Mirror Season 5 is headed our way (via Netflix, of course). Three whole new episodes of Charlie Brooker’s incisive sci-fi anthology will be out June 5th, and to prepare for it, we got individual trailers for all three episodes.
The first is called “Smithereens” and it stars Damson Idris, Andrew Scott (aka the Worst Guy on Fleabag), and Topher Grace. The summary goes: “A cab driver with an agenda becomes the centre of attention on a day that rapidly spirals out of control.” I don’t know, guys, it looks like an ad for Uber’s Quiet Mode to me.
Next we have “Rachel, Jack, and Ashley, Too” with Miley Cyrus, Angourie Rice, and Madison Davenport. “A lonely teenager yearns to connect with her favorite pop star - whose charmed existence isn’t quite as rosy it appears…” I dig how strange this looks. Whether this ends up being a hit or miss, we’ll all win if it’s a Short Circuit 2 sequel.
Finally, there’s “Striking Vipers”, and it has Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, which automatically makes it the best of the bunch. Oh, and the cast also includes Anthony Mackie, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, and Ludi Lin. “Two estranged college friends reunite in later life, triggering a series of events that could alter their lives forever.”
There you have it, the trailers for all three episodes of Black Mirror season 5. Hopefully this reduced episode count (compared to the 6 episode seasons for 3 and 4) will mean all three episodes pack a punch, although maybe the resources diverted to make Bandersnatch is really what’s to blame for the reduction.
Anyways, those are the trailers. What do you all think? I’m worried that the interest for new Black Mirror has dwindled now that Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction has returned to take back the crown, but I’m open to hearing other people’s thoughts.
