What, you thought because it was the Monday after a holiday weekend Hollywood was gonna take it easy on us this morning! Ha ha ha! You fools! You absolute chumps! It is eight-goddamn-A.M. the morning after 4th of July weekend and the Monday Trailer March has already begun. There will probably be six more by the time lunch rolls around!
Anyhoo, here's the full trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Having never seen Maleficent, I have very little to add here. Looks like a Maleficent movie, alright! You've got the horned headdress. You've got Jolie's angular cheekbones. You've got your gnarled vines and your fantasy creatures and whatnot. If you enjoyed all of those things in the first Maleficent, I'm reasonably certain you will enjoy even more of them in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Here's an official synopsis:
"The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds. When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family."
The press release we received for this did not contain a new poster, but maybe Disney's doing that thing where they wait and hour, then send out the poster in order to get two posts out of the deal. We will not be playing that game, but will update this post to include the new Maleficent: Mistress of Evil poster should there be one.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil hits theaters on October 18th.
