Just a few days ago, we brought you the news that Venom 2 was angling to add a second villain to the mix: Shriek, the flyin', sonic energy blast shootin', totally evil romantic interest to Carnage (who, as you surely know by now, will be Venom 2's primary villain). At the time, we had no idea who might be playing the character, just that she was being added to the mix, but today brings quite the update.
According to Variety, none other than Naomie Harris is in talks for the role. This would put her opposite Woody Harrelson's Carnage, as well as Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock/Venom. Of course, Harris hasn't yet signed on to the dotted line to play Shriek, and negotiations do fall through from time to time (just look what happened to Jonah Hill this week), but for the moment that appears to be where this is headed.
Most of you will recognize Harris from her work in the past few Bond movies, or her Oscar-nominated role in 2017's Moonlight. She a hell of an actress, and the concept of her playing a supervillain - particularly one this supervillain, and opposite Harrelson's Carnage - is very compelling. We're into it, in other words, and hope this pans out.
Nothing further to report at this time, but we'll keep you informed as further Venom 2 updates roll in.
