Last night was a busy one for Star Wars fans. First, David Benioff and DB Weiss walked away from their planned trilogy of Star Wars films, citing an insurmountably busy schedule for the departure. Then, we got a brand-new trailer for The Mandalorian, the live-action Star Wars series hitting Disney+ on November 12th.
If the Benioff/Weiss news bummed you out, this trailer oughtta cheer you up.
This looks great! Big, fun, action-packed - hell, it's even got Werner Herzog in it. It's clear that Lucasfilm spared no expense bringing The Mandalorian to life (this looks like a feature film, not a TV show); each newly-released clip makes us all the more excited to check this thing out when it arrives next month. In a time where we're getting more Star Wars than ever before, it's sort of amazing that we can still be hyped about a new Star Wars thing...and yet, here we are.
Here's a tantalizingly brief synopsis, from the press release:
"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."
What say you? Are you as excited about The Mandalorian as we are? Is it enough to get you to throw down for a Disney+ subscription? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for more on this series as further updates become available.
