Intriguing bit of news this morning: according to our friends over at Trailer Track, the MPA has rated a prologue for Christopher Nolan's Tenet, which is expected to roll out in IMAX theaters before screenings of JJ Abrams' Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It's a move that echoes the ten-minute Dark Knight Rises prologue that screened in IMAX theaters back in the day, or the Dunkirk prologue that played before IMAX screenings of Rogue One.
It's also of a piece with the highly limited, ultra-secretive marketing campaign WB's been pushing for Tenet thus far. Earlier this year, a teaser trailer for the film played before screenings of Hobbs & Shaw. At the time, many of us assumed that teaser would find its way online after Hobbs & Shaw's opening weekend, but it never made its way online in an official capacity.
Of course, this has yet to be confirmed by anyone at IMAX, Warner Bros. or Disney, but given Trailer Track's sterling track record on such matters, we're inclined to take this bit of gossip at face value. Take this information and do what you will with it, and do let us know if it's worth catching in IMAX theaters; chances are, we won't be seeing this footage online, either.
