WANDAVISION, LOKI, And FALCON & WINTER SOLDIER All Got A Super Bowl Spot
The first real footage from some of Marvel Studio's Disney+ shows just aired during the final stretch of the Super Bowl, and boy did it deliver. WandaVision, Loki, and Falcon & Winter Soldier, all have clips in the TV spot below:
For a thirty-second commercial, there is so much here that has me stoked. A real shot in the leg compared to the Black Widow teaser that aired tonight. The highlights:
- From Falcon & Winter Soldier, we have Sam Wilson practicing his shield throw and Wyatt Russell having a little US Agent's Long Halftime Walk moment
- From Loki, we have Tom Hiddleston's titular miscreant promising to burn down whatever prison he's rocking the uniform of. But which prison? The Kiln? The Negative Zone? (There's no way it's the Negative Zone)
- From WandaVision, we get a pastiche of classic 20th-century sitcoms from I Love Lucy to Roseanne to Newhart. (Special thanks to Russ Fischer for triangulating the references.) We also get our very first MCU rendition of Wanda Maximoff's classic Scarlet Witch costume from the comics.
As someone who's been skeptical about how the MCU could grow after the monumental Infinity Saga, it's pretty cool to see some formal risks being taken in these new productions, even if they're confined to the small screen for now.
Expect Falcon & Winter Soldier and Wandavision to debut sometime this year, and Loki in early 2021, all on Disney+.
