Did y'all go see Leigh Whannell's The Invisible Man this weekend?
I certainly hope so! Can't say I've polled the entire BMD team about it, but everyone I've spoken with so far seems to have loved it. Whannell could've gone in any number of directions following 2018's excellent Upgrade, but he chose to turn Universal's classic property (which, you'll recall, was in danger of being remade with Johnny Depp in the lead just a few years ago) into tech-y, atmospheric, legitimately terrifying and extremely timely little horror film that seems to be resonating with audiences.
Everything about the new Invisible Man simply works, from the chilly cinematography to the clever script to the outstanding lead performance turned in by Elisabeth Moss, but one element deserves special mention: Ben Wallfisch's excellent score. I've caught the film twice now, and on each viewing I found myself really locking into the Hans Zimmer-meets-Reznor & Ross vibes that Wallfisch came up with. It's a great piece of work.
And, hey, y'know who agrees? Our friends at Mondo.
This, as you can see, is Ben Wallfisch's The Invisible Man score, neatly repackaged as yet another in a long line of must-own Mondo soundtracks. Here's what it looks like on the inside:
