Darren Aronofsky Says MOTHER Audiences Should Prepare For An Intense Ride

In a new interview with Vulture, director Darren Aronofsky advises audiences to prepare themselves for how intense shit's gonna get in next month's Mother. 

Says Aronofsky (as quoted by The Playlist):

“It’s a cruise missile shooting into a wall, this film. I want audiences to be prepared for that and prepped that it’s a very intense ride.”

Intense not only for audiences, but apparently also quite intense for its performers...particularly lead Jennifer Lawrence, who Aronofsky says went above and beyond in some of the film's rougher sequences:

“I think she hyperventilated and also kind of threw a rib out. During the big climax of the movie, I mean, she started…She really went there. The producers were freaking out. We had to sort of calm it down and then go for it again. And the thing is, there’s so much ability there that somehow she can summon it again and again.”

With just weeks to go before Mother arrives, we still know next to nothing about the film (the official logline only tells us "A couple's relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence"), though that will probably change once the film screens at the Toronto International Film Festival. We dunno about you folks, but we're happy to remain as unspoiled as possible on this one. We've made it this far, what's another few weeks?
