Guy Pearce Presumably Earning Quite The Payday to Appear in Vin Diesel’s BLOODSHOT Movie

Michael Sheen's out, Guy Pearce is tagging in.

As you know, production is currently underway on Dave Wilson's Bloodshot, to be based on the Valiant Comics title of the same name. Starring Vin Diesel as the extremely pale, highly-murderous anti-hero of the title, the production also had Michael Sheen lined up to play a role in the film ... until, uh, just now: according to Deadline, Sheen is withdrawing from the project, citing both scheduling conflicts and family obligations.

Lined up to replace him: none other than Guy Pearce.

Pearce is, of course, no stranger to the superhero genre, having turned in a memorably villainous turn in Shane Black's Iron Man 3. We imagine he is being paid handsomely to appear in Bloodshot, partially because Guy Pearce is a talented actor who deserves a gigantic paycheck, but also because Bloodshot sounds kind of goofy.

Here. Read this plot description from Deadline:

"...the story centers around Ray Garrison aka Bloodshot, who is brought back from the dead by Rising Spirit Technologies’ use of nanotechnology and suffers total memory loss. Ray struggles to reconnect with who he was while learning what sort of weapon he has become, with the help of a group of other augmented combatants called Chainsaw."

See what I mean?

Anyway, no word on who Pearce might be playing in Wilson's film, but we'll probably hear more on that front once his negotiations are all finalized. We're guessing he'll be playing the villain, but we're also pulling that guess out of thin air and have no evidence suggesting as much. Perhaps we can will that outcome into existence simply by wanting it hard enough.

Stay tuned for more on Bloodshot as further updates become available.
