M. Night Shyamalan Is Making Two New Thrillers For Universal

We don't know anything about 'em yet, but we're hyped.

With his Unbreakable trilogy firmly in the rearview, it's time for director M. Night Shyamalan to start thinking ahead to his next project. Or projects, plural, as it turns out: according to Variety, Shyamalan has just signed a deal with Universal to write and direct two new thrillers, one arriving in February of 2021 and another in February of 2023.

Says Universal Pictures president Peter Cramer:

“M. Night Shyamalan continues to create exciting, highly original stories that keep global audiences on the edge of their seats. There is no one like him: he is a master filmmaker working at the height of his powers, and we are honored that he has once again chosen Universal to be the home for his next two incredible projects.”

Variety's report doesn't indicate anything about either project beyond the fact that they'll be "thrillers". Might the two be connected? It's not outside the realm of possibility, but that would seem to be the sorta thing they'd announce upfront, no? Guess we'll have to wait and see what shakes out.

While we're waiting: where did y'all land on Glass? What would you like to see Shyamalan do next? Think we're looking at a duology here? Sound off and speculate in the comments below, and stay tuned for more on both of these projects as further updates become available.
